And... He's back!

Just letting you all know that...President Cardon called Sawyer form the M.T.C. to let him know that his VISA is finally in.  Sawyer is being set apart as a missionary and will be known once again as, "Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff".  He is reporting to the M.T.C. on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.  He and mom will drive to Ogden tomorrow and stay over night with Jason and I then drive to Provo on Tuesday morning.  When he called me today, I asked "So... how do you feel about going back?  Nervous??"  And he said "Excited!"  It made my day to hear him say that.  He will be in the M.T.C. for 2 weeks and will fly out to Tampico Mexico on Monday, November 9th.  Please keep him and Elder Austin Gene Goff in your prayers.  We love them both and are so proud of them!

Garrett turned one on Monday, October 12, 2009. We celebrated his birthday on Saturday the 10th in Bunkerville. We had a little birthday party for him at the Bunkerville Park. It turned out to be pretty fun. He was funny to watch open presents. He would get so excited about the toys and then Glen would take it away and give him another present to open but he would just scream because he wanted the one he just opened. He was happy when he would open another one though. I'm sure he's making good use of his new toys! He is such a happy one year old! We are so glad he is part of our family! We love him to death! Thanks for coming to B-Town for his birthday Glen and Kaylee! We love you guys and miss you already!

Unexpected Occurences

Note from Tiff...

Monday, I had 2 missed calls on my phone from the MTC when I got done at work. My heart started pounding and I started to feel sick to my stomach. I called the number back and they said President Cardon (district pres in the MTC) had left his office. A few hours later, my phone rings again and it's the MTC calling. I answer and hear Sawyer's voice on the other end... I was expecting President Cardon. Sawyer told me they have decided what is going to happen... You see... a couple weeks ago I received a call from President Cardon telling me that Sawyer wanted to run something by me. He wanted me to know an option they were considering. He went on to tell me that Sawyer is still having a very rough time. He is seeing family counselors and they believe that he is in too much pain emotionally to enter the mission field at this time. They said he needs to figure out something with the family situation at home before going out to serve or he will only be half hearted. So, President Cardon explained that Sawyer's VISA to get to Mexico has been delayed 6 more weeks which would mean, he would be in the MTC 6 weeks longer... but, instead of that, they were thinking of sending him home for those 6 weeks in order for him to maybe relieve some of the emotional pain he is experiencing and then he will return to the MTC in 6 weeks and head out to Mexico with the next group who leaves once his VISA is ready. Well, tomorrow is the day that mom and dad will be picking him up. We don't need to think of this as a bad thing. This is an opportunity for him to work some things out in his heart and mind just like everyone else in our family needs to do (just like I need to do)! It is a blessing that they are understanding of his situation and are willing to give him this time.

I hope and pray that people at home will be considerate and understanding. His plan is to return to serve his mission in 6 weeks. Please be supportive and encouraging during this time. He knows and we all know that people will be crude... there will be people who say things and assume things and it will be tough, but, please know that he is a worthy young man who really has the desire to serve his Lord like he has been called to do. He is a good kid and it's hard to see him suffering like this... it's hard to suffer like this myself but it makes it even worse to see my siblings in so much pain as well. Please keep Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff and Elder Austin Gene Goff in your prayers and if you do hear others saying things that they know nothing about, please stick up for Sawyer. He needs it. He needs people who will be kind and help him push through this.  We all need strength right now. Please keep the Goff Family in your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot.

Garrett Gene saying hi! He's just too cute!

I don't know why the sound is weird on the video.  But, since you can't tell what is being said on here and it sounds like robot noises, it's Glen telling Garrett "Say hi to grandma and grandpa!"  How cute!!!

The 2 Goff Missionaries

Hey guys -

I am writing this to ask if you would each send me a note, letter, message, anything (to my e-mail or over facebook or by leaving a comment on this post) that I can send to both Elder Austin Gene Goff and Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff. They really could use the support right now and I want to send them a package this coming weekend with letters that will encourage them. I know that many of you will say something that could help my brothers who really need the strength to go forth with their missions during the midst of all the trials at home in our family. So, if you would, I would be so happy if you could send me a message for both of them that I can print off and mail in the packages I send them. It would mean a lot. I know they would love to get the letters! Thank you all in advance. Love, Tiffany

Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff needs prayers

I just wanted to write and ask you guys if you would please pray for Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff. He is having a really rough time in the M.T.C. He has a lot on his mind right now. He is not able to focus on the things that he needs to at the M.T.C. because he is so worried about our family. He is worried about our parents and JoliAnn and really wants to come home. He called me from the M.T.C. yesterday and cried and cried telling me he needs to come home and be with them. He is such a good kid and really does want to serve a mission. He has worked hard to get there and has talked about serving his mission for years.

Jason and I went to the M.T.C. today to talk with him and to have Jason give him a priesthoof blessing. We spent 2 hours with him talking about things. He bawled and bawled saying he thinks he needs to be at home to help. He is really scared about what is going to happen with our family. We are all worried about what is going to happen.. But, we all really want him to serve a mission.

He has not eaten or slept in 3 days. He is making himself sick worrying over things. He really can do this. But, he is in great need of some prayers and fasting. Not just today... not just for a week.. but this is going to take a lot! He needs to know that he has support at home. The elders in his district are not the nicest and give him a hard time about not being able to read as fast as them and catch on to the language as easily. They call him a retard and treat him in ways they should not. He really is a smart kid and has so much love for the gospel. He has so much on his shoulders right now and I just wish I could take it all.

Please write him and let him know how much you love him and please keep him in your prayers. Austin is going to have a hard time too when he finds out that Sawyer is so please keep Elder Austin Gene Goff and Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff in your prayers. Thanks for all you do.

Their addresses are below or you can go to dearelder.com and send them each a message really easily. You just have to know that Sawyer is in the Provo MTC for the Mexico Tampico Mission and Austin is in the Montana Billings Mission. They will get it the day you write it on there.

Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff enters the M.T.C.

Mom, dad, and Sawyer came up to Ogden on Tuesday night to stay. We all went out to eat at Applebees then woke up in the morning early to get ready to head to Provo to the M.T.C. Sawyer was set apart to be Elder Sawyer Garrett Goff on Tuesday morning at 10am. We dropped him off at the M.T.C. on Wednesday, July 29th at Noon. It was different from when we took Austin just 3 months ago because they don't let families go inside anymore. We said our good-bye's over in the Provo Temple parking lot then mom and dad drove the car into the M.T.C. and unloaded his bags at the curb as he was ushered off. We love our missionaries and miss them both so much already but know they will do great!

Family "Get Together"

Sawyer did so great speaking in church last Sunday! We are proud of him and know he will be a wonderful missionary in Mexico! We spent our evening at Aunt Lorraine's house on Sunday after he spoke. It was fun to spend some time with family.
